This means that so many worthwhile projects can now be funded in the year ahead – from places at Burns Camps and day activities to research projects and equipment to support the work of the staff who work with young burn-injured people in the region.

We must thank the group of amazing Volunteer Fundraisers who worked so hard to make the evening a huge success – everyone enjoyed the amazing venue, gorgeous food and great entertainment. Many thanks also to Gemma Clayton of Exposure Photography, who captured the whole evening for us. You can see some of the photos below or the whole album here. Are we doing it all again this December? You bet!

To support the Children’s Burns Foundation you just send a text to the number 70070 with the code CBFN00 and then the amount you wish to donate. So, for example, you could send a text saying “CBFN00 £5” and you can donate up to £10 this way.

All the money raised goes straight to the charity, as Justgiving have waived their charges and for most networks, text messages are free. If you donate this way, you will receive a text back with a link to a Gift Aid form.

Huge congratulations to Dave Bostlemann who cycled all 990 miles from Lands End to John O’Groats in April to raise money for the Children’s Burns Foundation. His hard work on the pedals was rewarded by his supportive family and friends, who helped him raise nearly £3000 for the charity.
Over nine days, Dave and his friend Ed set off at the beginning of April, aiming to cycle at least 100 miles a day in order to reach their destination on time. However at 500 miles into the challenge (at Lancaster) Ed sustained a serious Achilles injury and Dave had no alternative but to carry on alone.
We think they are both real heroes for not only taking part in the bike ride but also for their sterling fundraising efforts.
You can follow their blog at http://dbostelmann.blogspot.com/

As a small charity we aren’t in a position to buy our own places for the Great Manchester Run or the London Marathon, but if you are lucky enough to have already secured a place then please consider using it as a chance to help raise some much appreciated fundraising for the charity. We can support you with charity running vests on the day, as well as all the little extras such as sponsorship forms, collecting tins and buckets. And don’t forget to send is a photo of you crossing the finishing line because we’re happy to post it on here and tell the world what a superstar we think you are!

Last month we received a cheque from Tyco Fire & Safety for an amazing £13,000 – which has been put to some very good use by the charity this year. At their request, £3000 was used to enable our Trustee Dave Lenegan to attend the World Burns Congress in Texas, where he was able to speak with young and adult burns survivors as well as those who work in the rescue services from across the world. This was a very profound experience for Dave, who was burn-injured himself as a child, and he brings back a renewed enthusiasm for ensuring that this charity continues to support young people in the best way possible.
The remaining £10,000 donation will be used to fund places at Burns Camps, support additional psychological support activities for burns survivors and also help fund two research projects at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital which will have a direct impact on the care received by patients being treated at this specialist centre.

Huge thanks go to the organising committee who made sure that everything came together on the night – from endless raffle prizes to some awesome auction opportunities. All their hard work was very much appreciated, along with everyone who bought a ticket and helped fundraise for this small but vital charity.
Our thanks also to Greg Harding Photography who captured some wonderful images of everyone all dressed up and ready to party!

We know how early shops are starting to put their tinsel and baubles up each year, so we thought we’d be the first charity to mention the festive season! We’re planning a fantastic night on 10th December at the Radisson Hotel, Manchester. The Snow Ball will be a gala dinner followed by dancing to the small hours, and with tickets strictly limited we know that it’s going to be a huge success in every sense – an amazing night out and an opportunity to raise vital funds for all the projects we want to support next year. If you wish to ad dyour name to the waiting list for when tickets go on sale then please contact Cathy Reade on 0161 291 6323 or e-mail cathy.reade@uhsm.nhs.uk
