Snow Ball 2011
Following the amazing success of last year's event - when over £15,000 was raised
- we are delighted to announce that our annual Snow Ball will be held this year
on Saturday, 3rd December.
It still promises to be an amazing evening but this time
the location will be even more superb - we'll be at
The Monastery in Gorton.
We're strictly limited this year to just 199 tickets - don't ask! - so it really is a case of
getting your ticket early.
Minimum donation is £85 per ticket and there are a few tables of 10 still available if
you want to use the evening to celebrate with your friends.
Children’s Burns Foundation receives £13,000 from Tyco
Fire & Integrated Solutions
The Children’s Burns Foundation (CBF) has been awarded a cheque for
£13,000 from Tyco Fire &
Integrated Solutions – a global fire protection
and detection business. It was presented to the CBF by
George Oliver,
President of Tyco Fire Protection, and Jordi Andreu, Managing Director of
Tyco Fire
Protection Services EMEA, during a meeting at the company’s
EMEA headquarters in Newton Heath,
Manchester.
The cheque was gratefully received by Dave Lenagan, a Fire Fighter for
Greater Manchester Fire &
Rescue Service and Vice Chair of The Board
of Trustees at The Children’s Burns Foundation, and Aimee
Carroll, who
is the Children’s Burns Foundation’s Special Ambassador.
The company’s contribution will help the charity fund a range of initiatives
from medical research to places
at week-long burns camps designed to
help young people overcome the emotional and physical scars
caused by
burn injuries.
Whilst presenting the cheque Jordi Andreu highlighted the natural synergy between Tyco Fire Protection’s work and that of the Children’s Burns Foundation. ‘As specialist fire engineers we strive to keep millions of people across the UK safe from fire every day; but sadly there are still many young people affected by burns. We wanted to get involved with the CBF as soon as we heard about the great work that they’re doing. Not only are they a fantastic charity, run entirely by volunteers, but the burns injuries of the children it supports reminds us of why our work is so vital’.

Children’s Burns Foundation receive donation from AGMA
Disaster Relief Fund
Children’s Burns Foundation (CBF) has received a welcome donation to its
work in supporting Manchester Children’s Burns Camps. In a short presentation at
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Headquarters Sir Richard Leese,
Leader of Manchester Councillor and Chair of the Greater Manchester County
Disaster Relief Trust handed over a cheque for £7000 to aid the work of CBF
to Aimee Carroll, acting in her role as the CBF’s ambassador.
The event was witnessed by Chief Fire Officer Barry Dixon, Patron of the CBF,
Rachel Armfield, who is a Research Registrar in Burns and Plastic Surgery and
Dave Lenagan who is a burns survivor and serving fire officer with GMFRS.
Dave is also vice chair of the foundations trustees.
Dave Lenagan said, “On behalf of the CBF I would like to thank the trustees of the
Disaster Relief Fund for their generous donation. Last year the Burns Camps helped
41 young people from Greater Manchester whose lives have been affected by fire. On average 400 children are affected by burns or scalds in Greater Manchester annually and the camps are just one of the ways we can help these young people cope with the physical and psychological affects of the injuries, in a safe environment, working with a group of people who share their experiences. This money will help us to improve the lives of more children affected by burns than we previously would have been able to”.
